The strength of family and friends, the support of her community, and hard work shape the foundation of Susan's namesake company, Susan Turner Baby, Inc. Established in 1994, Susan Turner brings style, elegance, and quality into your little one's nursery.
Susan was welcomed into the quaint community of Marshallville, GA when she met and married one of Marshallville's own, a 3rd generation gentleman farmer. Upon moving into the Turner family home, Susan began introducing her distinctive style into the home's décor. Her first endeavors into nursery design began in the 1970's with the birth of her 2 children. Choosing the soft yellow and blue palette, laying the tile, and painting the walls were done purely out of love and excitement.
Her love of design remained a hobby until her children began spending longer days at school and afternoons with friends. In the 1980's, Susan designed interiors for both residential and commercial properties as she began her relationship with the American Society of Interior Designers. While this experience introduced her to numerous fabrics and textures, her reputation for fine nurseries began to flourish.
Determined to build on her growing reputation for fine nursery designs, Susan focused her energies on creating a unique room for families as they welcome their little one home. With Susan's perspective that every mother, father, and child is special, her designs find their way into the most discriminating homes. Susan's custom designs are favored across the country by Politicians, Actors, Athletes, Recording Artists, and every parent searching for something truly special for their cherished child.
While searching for a studio to develop her designs, Susan set her sights on the Marshallville train depot. Located in the center of downtown Marshallville, this historically significant property built in the 1840's provides the perfect backdrop for her timeless creations. Susan Turner Baby officially moved production into the train depot in 1998 after Susan, with the help of family and friends, completely renovated the interior to support her production needs. This location allows her to accomplish two objectives she finds significant: offering employment to local seamstresses and manufacturing products within the United States.
As Susan Turner Baby began to take shape, Susan sought a symbol for her company that her customers could identify with quality and sophistication. She came across the perfect symbol right in her own home. While flipping through sketches drawn by her late mother-in-law in the 1940's, Susan found Neeman®, who is, according to her, the "perfect little bunny with a little bit of attitude." Neeman® is now a registered trademark and can be found on virtually every Susan Turner creation.
Susan and Neeman® retired several years ago to St. Simons Island, Georgia. However, she soon discovered that her heart and passion remained in nursery design. Therefore, in the summer of 2009 she again took the reins of her business.
With her new business model, Susan again finds the time for private interior consultation and design that extends from the nursery into the entire home and beyond. She and her faithful Golden Retriever, Scout, travel regularly to various locations bringing her distinctive designs and products to your lifestyle.
At this time, the only direct method to purchase her products or services is online or through your interior designer, so peruse our online boutique or, for a private consultation, please feel free to contact our studio. |
